The Lamport Swan
My current project is a commission for Lamport Hall in Northamptonshire. It is a swan to commemorate their 50th anniversary of being a preservation trust.

800 kg of Jordans bed Portland and the height is over a metre.

It is the biggest thing I have ever chiselled and a very large red crane was hired to install him!

Chessmen of Lewis
The 12th Century Chessmen of Lewis have always fascinated me. They are thought to have originated from Norway, are carved from walrus and whale's teeth and disovered at Uig Bay on the Isle of Lewis in 1831.

These are my interpretation of five of the chess pieces - the detailing is accurate, but each take on their own distinct character as I chisel them.
I expanded an my preparatory sketches to create small Gouache portraits of each piece
Taking elements of my other stone carvings and stonemasonry designs...
And creating a surrealist architectural piece incorporating all these elements....
